      Honda Blackbird *****Finished*****

Had a day off work today to finish this one off. I have so much on, I needed to get this off the desk. Not because I was fed up of it, it just takes up a lot of space with all the sub-assemblies in boxes. Anyway, lots of firsts but if anyone wants a Tamiya bike from the lower end of the rice range that will be impressive OOB, this beauty is it.

The exhausts have be re done with Alclad and it has turned out OK. The silver for the frame and parts of the bodywork is Tamiya Titanium Silver, Titanium Gold for the brake disks and with a touch of Citadel Burnished Gold added for the wheels. Revell Anthracite is the main body colour. Tamiya clear red and orange has been used inside the indicator and rear light.

I knew there would be a problem with the decals as they are designed to go on a Silver bodywork so they do not show up as well as I would have liked on the Anthracite but I do like the way they fit into the moody subtle paint scheme following a picture of a Blackbird i found on the net.

I think that this is the best model I have built to date and I am seriously loving these Tamiya bikes. Must get another few.

Power-plant in and ready for forks and pipework.

All the wheels on and ready for the side fairing panels.

The upper fairing and dashboard is almost a kit in itself.

And fully kitted out and ready for the road.

Wow! Looks like I could jump on and ride away. I've still got the licence even though SWMBO has banned the bikes. Well done indeed.

Cheers guys, just realised I had left the front mudguard off for the pics...... Trust me it is on now lol. Good thing about this kit is that you can take it to bits if you want, a few screws and the rest just clicks together.

Little tip I forgot t mention. The vinyl tubes for the leads and cables was a pain, some tight bends and it kinks flat and you cannot keep it in the shape intended, i.e. the curve of a pipe to follow it's correct path. The tip is to shove lead wire down the pipe and you can bend it and shape it. Sadly I cannot remember where I read this tip so I cannot give credit to the person who I got it off but it really does work.

Something has occurred Graham, I don't see the caterpillar tracks that were on your instruction sheet?
I take it this is the civilian version?

      Honda Blackbird

Please confirm that the pictures I have been looking at on this thread ARE a model??
I've ridden new bikes which don't look this good.
