Talking my first model attempt in years (old skool widebody rx7)

ok, well i havnt modeled since i was like 6....with my dad (a really good train moddeler) but then they divorced so i havnt done a model in a good 10 years, so when i was this on www.trademe.co.nz for 20 bucks i had to have it, coz i just love these cars!

anyways, about the model....it has a total of 8 coats of paint (9 if you count primer) 3 of gun metal metallic, 2 of silver flake, and 3 coats of clear. its a 1/24 scale fujimi kit

so im a bit rusty, a few bits of dust ended up in the paint, but i will prolly cut that out with 5000 grit and cutting paste (which are readily avalible to me) theres a closeup of the finish, taken with a webcam, so it kinda defeated the purposeof a closeup, but you can still see the metallic glitter effect.

all painted with tamiya aerosols and tamiya enamel pots.

tell me what ya think (i know im quite rusty)

ps-i just put it on my xbox for braggin rights

Hi Foto and wlecome to the Forums

Nice work & I lke the way you have done the pic on your X-Box to re-create the blue neons underneath, very effective.

There are plenty of us here that do cars, me included, so if you get stuck, just shout.

Regards........Mark

Hi Jonathan and a very warm welcome to the scale models forum.

Theres lots of freindly advise to be had here and a very relaxed style of postings. Make the most of the resources available abd feel free to add you own experiences whenever you feel the urge.

You wouldn't think you were a born again modeller by the nice paint job. Have a look at some of the tutorials for more ideas and inspiration.

Jonathan,a big welcome here, your model was not bad for an early attempt,my policy is every model just gets that little bit better next time, keep at it you are on the right track.
