Smile Motorcycles.

Over the years many many models have come and gone but for some reason or other I seem to have been able to keep hold of most of my motorcycle models. Possibly as they have always had the luxury of a glass case, which opens from the rear so they get handled very rarely.

Anyway I decided to grab the bull by the horns the other day and I took them out and snapped a few pictures of them. What interested me, as always, is how my modelling has developed over the years as I have grown and learned. The early ones have not even had the joints properly smoothed out and dry brushing techniques did not start until about twenty years ago. Looking at then closely also reminds me of all the little mistakes that are still there and how I tried to correct them.

Anyway I have stuck them in the gallery and I will attach them to this post as well for anyone interested in motorbikes to have a look at. Not the best of pictures I'm afraid, I should have taken more time over it I guess.

I have put a brief description about each one in the gallery but if you want to know a bit more about any of them feel free to ask.

Richard, these are super ! just like my aeroplane collection they look good together, thanks for taking the time in photographing them,it does take time to arrange models.
As regards seeing cracks and blemishes, just keep them like that to remind you of how you have progressed over the years.
Some interesting subjects there.

Thanks Barry. The sad part is when I think of all the ones that, for some reason or other didn't make it. I have made quite probably over a hundred plastic models over the years and I have only a handfull to show for it.

When I look through the new Airfix book I realise just how many of them I have actually made.

Thanks Richard. The Tamiya Paris/Dakar BMW with rider was supplied with the rider, as was "Lucky" with the GP Honda.

The FZR with the privateer was made from a standard road bike kit and a model of Kenny Roberts that Tamiya produced as an accessory for the Roberts GP bike.

I don't know if Tamiya still make figures in this scale so I would have a look through thier latest catalogue but, probably of more use, keep an eye on Ebay.

Check out these figures currently up for auction: 6065592595 and 6061724152
