Mk2 Escort Finished

At last this car is finished and has been polished using Future floor polish, all I do is dip the body to seal all the decals then dip the plastic windows to make then look shiny, I hope U all like it.

Hi DRR,

I like your Escort. Always been a favourite of mine.

The bodywork looks very good, but I am afraid I would be a little disappointed with the roll cage if it was my kit. It just doesn't do the rest of the car justice.

Sorry for the negative, but it might not be so obvious had you painted the cage flat black.
What scale and make is it?
Annoying when you can't get the livery you want isn't it?

Terry

Nice finish on the lvery but the roll cages in the Ford Credit Team RS2000s were a satin black finish.

I will shortly be building Waldegards car from the 1979 Southern Cross Rally

If you like Southern Hemisphere MK11s then here is Ari Vatanen's car from the 1977 New Zealand Rally. Check out my site for numerous Mk11s.

1977 saw one of those events, which older rally fans will remember well. The battle between the three works Fiat Abarth 131’s and the Masport Ford Escort RS1800 driven by a young Ari Vatanen. The event which started in Wellington , took in some very long stages north of Wairoa on the East Coast, and it was in one of those long stages that an ever trying Ari Vatanen caught and passed all 3 Fiats. Vatanen saw more of the scenery than most bringing the battle scarred Escort home just 1-1/2 minutes behind eventual winner Fulvio Bacchelli.
An interesting feature is the lack of mirrors on the car even though the supports are in place, this was due to the mirrors being removed when the car was shipped to New Zealand and for some reason were never refitted.

Wooo old Escorts are very nice cars indeed. I have a 1:24 kit in my cupboard I am itching to build but I want to wait untill I can do it justice. You have put together a very nice example there, really like it!

Sorry for the late reply on this one, I know the barwork is suppose to be satin black on this car and it's sister car but with all my 1/24-25th rally cars the interiors don't ussually get done because they sit in display cabinet that is small and U can't see them because of overcrowding of the models in there I leave unfinished beside I hate doing all that tiny paint work OK call me lazy I lnow, the only time it gets done is on large models like my 1/12th Datsun 240Z Safari Car soon to be finished (hopefully). I know that not doing the interior is a but heck I'm the only here at home that sees the bloody things day in day out.
