| | All Round Modeller | Thanks Terry,
Yes I got all my lights and Blue Neons for under the Car from E-bay...The torches mentioned above were to use the little reflectors inside with the neons to recreate proper headlights & Tail-lights rather than just having little LED heads showing. These now throw out quite a beam and look fantastic.
Ps..... Here is a pic with the Neons on......slightly blurred but I will take some better pics when it gets dark later.
Regards......................Mark

After what seems like an eternity, The Skyline has been out for the first time today.....She Behaved perfectly. The Brand New Engine started first time and ran faultlessly....didn't even need to adjust the Tickover !!! Just some minor adjustments to do....but that is to be expected with any new model.
I had already set a target date of today for the Test Drive and the weather even obliged.
Managed to get a couple of short videos of it in action, the pics below are stills from the videos
Hard to believe that is NOT the real car !!! I was lying down on the ground with the Camera to shoot these. The 3rd pic is the Give away as it is a normal photo shot & you can see -=Nemesis=- driving it....the car was built for him so he had the honours of first drive....I haven't even driven it myself yet !!!
Regards........Mark.

| | All Round Modeller | And for those of you wondering what my Avatar pic is, here is the larger version. It is the Skyline from behind and is probably the same Blur you would see if it flew past you !!!
The glow from the Neons is fantastic.
This pic was almost deleted after I took it but I then realised there was something about it...so I kept it.
Regards.......Mark

| | All Round Modeller | Thanks Richard,
Yep will get the night pics up very soon as long as the weather holds out...we only got one tank of juice through this one today but that took over an hour to do...running it in nice and slow and with plenty of 3 in 1 oil to help lube it out.....hence plenty of smoke lol.... we also had the scooby out on it's first run on 16% nitro.....ran much better and with no probs at all...it was only on 10% before because I was unsure of the age of the engine....it told me today though...the power difference was amazing and it didn't cut out once at all !!!
You can see both cars here and the full set of headlights on the Skyline
Regards.......Mark

| Mark,
Absolutely superb jobs. You should quite rightly be very proud of them both. Some shots in the evening with the sun going down to show up the lights will look stunning.
If you are ever over in Halifax we have a very good purpose built race track which is very well supported throughout the summer months. I am not into building them but I do enjoy watching them race and it never fails to amaze at just how they can be controlled to a racing line.
Thanks for sharing. |

| | All Round Modeller | Thanks Richard,
Yes I have had a lot of fun doing these and am having even more fun driving them now. I will try and get some nice sunset shots very soon to show off the lights and the neons as they will be extremely effective and the shots should look stunning.
There is a 3rd car on the way to join these 2, My Honda NSX, so I will be having an awful lot of fun this summer.
Believe it or not, I don't normally do cars but have only recently got back into them thanks to my nephew....I had my last car in 1978 and have not had one since till my nephew got started and he came to ask me about it first. I normally do Boats, Planes and Helicopters....I have often toyed with the idea of another car and have finally taken the plunge again.......it was worth it !!!
And if I get the chance to come to Halifax, I might just give that track a go. Thanks for the info on that.
Regards.........Mark

| i did touring car racing for a while on an indoor track (compiled of barriers, cones...etc for a while with my mate who is into them, i tell you it got confusing, one minute left is left and right is right, then left is right and right is left. i didnt do that badly actually but i didnt have the money to start it up for myslef at the time so i lost interest.
it was great fun and something i plan to do later on in life.....god knows what technology will be around then though!!!! |
