| | All Round Modeller | Yep, can only agree with you there Richard,
Cars have changed so much since my last one in 1978 and of course the beauty of being able to make all your own lights etc now and custom made markings on your pc.....I used to have to hand paint all them back then.
and of course the cars are more powerful now and easier to start with Pullstart engines....they didn't exist back then.
Regards.......Mark

| | All Round Modeller | Well....Just a Progress report for you,
The car has now had 7 tanks of Fuel through it and the engine has performed faultlessly throughout the whole running in period. It doesn't stop unless you make it, or it runs out of Fuel. We were even refilling the tank with the engine ticking over....doing proper pitstops !!! Starting is soooo easy, it just fires up and away you go.....The Brake has now also been adjusted and is working well.
Handling is fantastic and with four wheel drive it responds very well....Front suspension has also been adjusted to give a little more clearance at the front end and handles even better now.
It had rained quite a bit yesterday so My Nephew had a bit of fun learning to make the car Drift on smooth wet tarmac and it obliged superbly. I even got my first drive on it too and had a lot of fun....and some spectacular spins.
Next step is for some nice evening shots to show off the lights and the Neons as requested above.
Will keep you posted.
If you look carefully in the pic you can see all the trails where the car has drifted...!!!
Regards.......Mark

| | All Round Modeller | As Promised,
Out with the car again last night for some proper running now the Engine is run in....still starting and running perfectly...the fuel seems to last for ages in this one !!!
Anyway...we were there long enough waiting for darkness to creep in so's we could see the lights in action.....bearing in mind we started at 7pm and it doesn't start getting dark till 9 ish, we were there running a while before deciding it was time to turn on the lights......and how they glowed..!!!
The Darker it got the more they really showed up.
Some shots outside and some in an underground car park to show the real effect in proper darkness....even with some overhead sodium lighting !!!
The results speak for themselves I think.
Regards.......Mark

| | All Round Modeller | Thanks for the comments, This is the first time I have tried out any such lighting on any cars (I have done lights on Helicopters before but nowhere near as good as these have come out) I am really pleased with the results and my nephew was even more so when it was time to turn them on last night.
We shot 40+ photos and 4 good videos last night so can get a few more shots from them yet. I have one pic that is my personal Favourite as it came out really well and shows what I set out to achieve in the First place.
Enjoy...!!!
Regards.........Mark.

| | All Round Modeller | Cheers Richard,
And in answer to your last post, yes I have finally tracked down some bigger wheels, the current ones are 52mm diameter and I was looking for at least 60mm diameter....have found a company in the states that can supply me with a nice set of 62mm Wheels which will be spot on....just got to order them now and spray em chrome on arrival.
As for building you one...will see what I can squeeze in on my schedule, the NSX is rolling out shortly....just got to cut the cooling holes in the shell now, all the major cutting is done....Some nice Carbon Fibre touches on there too !!!
Regards......Mark

| Mark,
What an absolutely stunning model, all credit to you for putting these cars together and sharing them with us.
I would be terrified of setting them off round a track though as I would not have any confidence on being able to keep them on the tarmac.
This is one thing I really like about this forum. Cars like that are just not my cup of tea but I can still enjoy sharing your build progress and still share in your enthusiasm and excitement at seeing the finished model perform well. I also appreciate the skill and engineering that goes into one of these so I have thoroughly enjoyed following this. Thank you. |

| | All Round Modeller | Thanks Bunkerbarge, your comments are most welcome. As stated earlier I don't normally do cars either...My last one was 1978 but I have toyed with the idea of another one....having done the 2 cars for my nephew over the last couple of years, I have bought myself one now too, had forgotten how much fun they were !!!
Set up right, they can be controlled very precisely even when tearing up the tarmac at a great rate of knots. The Skyline here does that perfectly without even having to touch the brakes, just throttle off and she slows down instantly. The Brakes are there for when really needed. This is a 4 wheel drive car so that probably makes the difference compared to a 2 wheel drive car (eg. My Nephews Subaru Impreza which definitely requires use of brakes from time to time....and it is on a smaller engine !!!)
Once I get mine running then I will enjoy racing my nephew and will maybe even get some more flying hours in again this year as I have a couple of planes awaiting finishing !!!
Regards.........Mark
