| | All Round Modeller | Ok,
Here's a shot of the other side now being striped up. As you can see the bottom set is already in place. Top set to go on now. You can probably see the Black pencil line which marks the bottom edge of the top set and the line it has to follow.
It is Tricky work getting them exactly the same on both sides but I have managed it. The main factor is the double curvature of the shell as well as all the folds and creases that you can see on the Bodyshell. Takes time to ensure that the Solarfilm sticks in all the right places and more importantly stick in the right direction too. Those folds etc do tend to cause the stripes to change direction. Careful rubbing down of the stripes as they are being stuck down helps to ensure they come out right.
Any minor creases / Bubbles are Popped and then ironed out using a heat sealing tool to ensure a smooth finish. The heat sealing tool is also used on the stripe edges to seal them onto the Bodyshell so that they don't peel off.
Regards..........Mark.

| | All Round Modeller | Well,
The Skyline got new shoes today as you can see in the pic, These are much wider wheels than the originals I had on and are more like the ones on the car from the film. They have changed the looks of the car quite a bit but in the right sense too.....Looks more aggressive now. These are proper Kyosho Wheels...Tyres are Pro-line.
Front grilles are now all opened, Mesh is glued in on the centre parts but still to be done for the 2 side bits. Cooling ring tube to be made to go on centre Grille.....I have had ideas for this....a Trimmed Chromed Paper Clip will do the job nicely.
My nephew is chuffed to bits with the car so far.
Will Keep you posted
Regards........Mark.

| | All Round Modeller | Just a little update for you,
Finally added a spoiler onto this car, not the one supplied with the Bodyshell as this was the wrong shape, knocked this one up using some balsa Trailing edge stock rounded off to aerofoil shape before cutting off the back 1/2 " to angle up to give the right deflection. Covered with thin paper first then thin coat of clear dope sanded...takes care of the woodgrain. Solarfilm used to cover. End plates are just acetate sheet cut to shape and covered in Solarfilm also.
Lights and Indicators are next for fitting before finally putting the radio in and then it is ready to run...!! (Hopefully the cold weather will have gone by then)
Pic is slightly blurred but I hope that is how the car will be seen when running....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzooooooooooooooooooom mmmmmmmm
Regards...........Mark.

| | All Round Modeller | Thanks Guys,
Will keep you posted on this one....nice to see that it is inspiring...that's the whole idea of this Hobby.
P.s Skulker....If you are going to do this one, you will need a chassis wheelbase length of 280mm. The 200mm width is fine.....Good Luck !!
