In 1915 the War Office rejected the proposal to equipe the armed forces with radical "remotely piloted aircraft" operated by "radio waves" as futuristic nonsense with no military value whatsoever. Even the name "Predator" was considered to be pretentious . "The idea of flying cameras and even weapons being launched from such contraptions was pure phantasy" said a government spokesman, an ex high ranking cavalry officer and now strategic planner for the services.
