| I don’t think we let the colonies know the secrets of trigonometry just in case they started to get ideas above their station!
Only kidding!!!!! |

| For those of you still in the dark this might help, (click on the diagrams to enlarge): SOHCAHTOA A way of remembering how to compute the sine, cosine, and tangent of an angle.
SOH stands for Sine equals Opposite over Hypotenuse.
CAH stands for Cosine equals Adjacent over Hypotenuse.
TOA stands for Tangent equals Opposite over Adjacent.
Example:Find the values of sin θ, cos θ, and tan θ in the right triangle shown.  Answer:sin θ = 3/5 = 0.6
cosθ = 4/5 = 0.8
tanθ = 3/4 = 0.75 This triangle is oriented differently than the one shown in the SOHCAHTOA diagram, so make sure you know which sides are the opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse.

| A bit of trig is good for you and surprisingly useful when marking out boat components such as plywood panels etc.
Now algebra, that's even more interesting!!

Maths lessons, Argggghhhhhhhh!
I'm proud of my vegetative state. It's taken me years to get here!

| I just draw the part in CAD and get the computer to dimension it for me, that was I'm using TRIG without even knowing it! Let the computer do the work, after all calculations are what computers do best!
Can we close this thread so we don't keep getting the TRIG stuff bombarded on us. :P
Only joking!
