Gaz has PM'd me with a correct description of the answer, well done.

I used to really enjoy what they called Technical Drawing at school as well. Generating slices of sections through cones and constructing loci, great stuff!! I can never remember now whether the Parabola or the Hyperbola was the one parallel to the side of the cone!

I'll give it a few days then post the answer to the drawing puzzle.

The Parabolic Curve is the corner after the Ascari Curve on the Monza GP circuit.

A parabola is the curve when you section a cone, and the curve formed by the cable on a suspension bridge...however when the bridge is being constructed the cable is in the shape of a catenary curve.

A catenary curve being the curve if you stretch out a length of chain horizontally and allow it to sag in the centre.

A bit off topic there! Interesting though!
