| Something else different Howdy Guys,
Ok, they all tell me that as long as its a scale model, it doesnt really matter what its made of. So, here is the USS NIMITZ aircraft carrier done in paper.......yes paper, like you have in your printer kinda. Matter of fact, you can print out the parts and instructions and build it yourself.
Here is the link: http://home.kimo.com.tw/yukiyuji/downl1.htm and here are some photos:
There are other models on this link too. How about a soviet missile cruiser:
Or a Ticondaroga class American missile cruiser:
I just thought everyone might not be able to afford all the legos needed for that other aircraft carrier.
Have a good day,
Greg aka GW |

| Thanks for that dreg, it's nice to see what's available in the US, there always seems to be more variety there than in UK.
Just how big is that model?

| Howdy Jankers, RJ,
well, I am not real sure, but I would venture to say atleast 2 foot long for the aircraft carrier plus or minus a few inches. I havent built this model myself, I am not a "ship" guy.
But, being an avid card modeler, I come across many links to free card models while surfing the net. I have links to literally thousands of free card models. Models of anything you can think of, be it a 1:48 scale model of a Saturn V apollo rocket (about 7 ft tall, made totally of paper, look here: http://jleslie48.com/gallery_models_real.html )
to models of cars, trucks, planes, robots, etc...etc. Like I said, if you can think of it, there is probably a model of it in paper.
Especially aircraft, anything from a piper pawnee crop duster to a german twin engine bomber like the Dornier Do 17 (see Photo of the actual paper model Note this is a kit that requires puchasing).
(Yes this is made of paper and overhead projection film.)
If ya'll would like some links to free downloadable models, just email me at ![[email address]](http://www.scale-models.co.uk/?emailimage=2943b6074a1e61081e2bc535729468ae) and I will send you the list that I have accumulated.
Or if you would like to see more photos of models made of paper, let me know and I will post some and let you know where you can get them. (some are free, some are for sale. For the ones that are for sale, you download them on your computer after paying the vendor.
Have a good day,
Greg |

| Howdy RJ,
Printed off, or downloaded? The reason I ask is on some models you need a heavier grade of paper ie..Card paper hence the name Card Model. This can be found at any dept store such as wal mart, K mart, target, etc....etc, or at stationary shops. I personally use cheap photo paper.
As for glue, I use white elmers glue, or cyno acrylate esther (super Glue).
A few tips would be:
1. Save the link, if you mess up a part, you can print out another one. This is something you cant do with plastic kits.
2. before starting, spray the full pages with some sort of sealer, this prevents the glue smudges which you no doubtedly will get since you are just starting off. I know from personal experience, I thought card modelling would be easier than plastic kits, but it has its own tedious qualities.
3. Like a plastic kit, always test fit your parts before gluing them in place.
4. Once your model is finished, its ok to laugh hysterically when people dont believe that your model is something other than paper, you earned the right to laugh.
5. consider joining www.cardmodels.net there are plenty of ppl willing to help you with any troubles you may encounter. Plus there are very knoledgable ppl there too, like designers of these paper kits.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me or wonwinglow (Barry), he is a card modeler also.
Have a good day,
Greg aka GW |

| il take a look, thanks greg....but...what glue do you use?
i can always try doing it with normal grade paper (they stuff i use at home it quite thick anyway...well for printer paper anyway)
and if it dosnt work it hasnt cost me anything so....no harm no foul! |

| Howdy Again RJ,
I use elmers white glue for the most part, but I also use superglue. superglue can be used to "laminate" parts ie... gluing several of the same parts together like ribs on a ship. Super glue dries really stiff on paper and there fore it is great for ribs, wing spars and other "skeletal" pieces of models.
I realize apparently you liked the look of that ship, I mean you are willing to have a go at it.
Here are some more ships, they can be found here as free downloads: http://www.digitalnavy.com/html/downloads.html see photos:
Nothing you like there? try some of theseships from http://www.asukacruise.co.jp/download/papercraft.html
see photos below:
Dont see anything that interests you yet? here is a photo of the Cruiser "Uraguay" that can be found here along with others as free downloads. http://www.geocities.com/cutelo02/ see photo below:
All of the above models are all made of paper and printed out on a home computer. They are all FREE DOWNLOADS too!
Anywa, I know I got off your subject of which glue, but I already addressed that in the first paragraph lol.
if you have anymore questions hollar!
have a good evening,
Greg aka GW
ps. the first three models give the scale of the models on the link provided. |

| | All Round Modeller | Greg,
Welcome to the Forums and keep up the Great posts, I have read your photography ones and that is something both my Nephew and I do all the time now....even more so shooting videos as it is much easier on the low level....especially where r/c cars are involved !!!
As for the paper models......fantastic...they still look good and I do like the look of the modern cruise liners....although I would probably build one of these much larger in balsa/ply if I were to do one...the plans are still very much useful all the same and regards to you for that.
Keep them coming !!!
Mark.
