| Airship Shed and Rigid Airship Card Models Howdy Guys,
I just finished reading the post by wonwinglo about the airship shed at Cardington. Ralph Currell offers a 1:700 scale (over 15 inches long) airship shed modeled after the shed at Cardington for free at: http://www.currell.net/models/mod_free.htm . He also offers 3 Airshipss, The R 100, the R 101 and the Vickers Trans Oceanic Airship. All at 1:700 scale.
There is also a free model of an airship mooring mast for these model airships.
You can also find a 1:144 scale (about 17" long) model of the Concorde supersonic jet.
All are free downloads.
I have built the R 100 myself and it is a nice model.
Now the Vickers Airship in the photo above was enlarged before printing and as with all paper/card models, thats an option you have, you can make the model as large or as small as you want it, scaling it up or down.
Have a good day,
Greg aka GW

| Greg, the models of the airships are just lovely, how refreshing to see such different subjects tackled in card,I once built a balsa framework, tissue covered R.101,built on the keel principle just like small rubber driven flying models.
I just cannot remember what happened to it ? probably tissue perished and the structure damaged, also built a commercial card kit of one of the Zeppelins purchased in a toy shop in Germany.

| Howdy Guys,
Ok, first I need to clear things up abit, the photos shown are of models that appear in ralph Currells Gallery, they arent mine. I should have made that clear when I posted the photos, and since I didnt I want to apologize for that. I always believe in giving credit where credit is due and never would want to take credit for someone elses work.
Ok, that being said, The model at the mooring mast on the wood base, If I am not mistaken, there once was an explaination on his site tat told how it was done, I believe there was something like a coat hanger wire bent in a "L" shape that ran up thru the mast and bent 90 degrees and was inserted into the airship.
I felt like these items would be something of interest to you folks "across the pond", I mean they are abit of ya'lls heritage. And be they paper or plastic, they are great looking models.
And.....................these models are simple, with easy to read and follow instructions. They would make a great project for a "Father and son" on a weekend.
And yes, I do try to have a link for most any topic, most I have right away, some I may have to do some research on, but usually I can find most any topic of model done in paper.
Ok, I rambled on enough, I just mainly wanted to clear up the part about the photos.
Have a good day all,
Greg aka GW
ps. And to Duncan, thank you for the "Thank You".

| No need to apologise Greg, you have led us towards some great model projects for the longer evenings, and yes they must have been heady days when they built these skyships, what always amazes me is the way they built the formers from all of that girder work, you see pictures of men hanging onto the framework armed with a rivetting gun ! they were huge, and once more how did they mange to keep everything in line? you know what it is like when they build houses and one upright is a few degrees out, result one crooked house that Jack built,so just how did they manage to keep them straight ?
Perhaps another wonder of the world, they did not have any lasers then to assist.
