Howdy RJ,

Ok, I am glad you want to try one, however, these are abit more complex with more parts. You might want to look at a few of these tip on Bill Jones website. They are mostly modifications, but some tips are applicable to all the yamaha models. http://billjones_9.tripod.com/ .
These are very nice display models which stand about 7 to 9 inches tall, so they arent small lol. And they are fairly large files containg about 20 pages of parts.
But I found on complex models.....if a person has the desire and the patience to complete it, they turn out beautiful, much like building a large scale model of a sailing ship with sails and rigging, its tedious work, but if you have patience and stick to it, its something you will be proud of.
If you run into problems, you can contact me or ask some of the members over at www.cardmodels.net . Most of the membership there are familiar with these models and techniques used in constructing models like them.

Have a good day,

Greg aka GW

I like the way the space frame has been made up from rolled card, these models do you great credit, you have created a lot of interest here in card modelling for which we are grateful, somewhere in my library are some card model books purchased over the years,I am going to build some this winter.
Which adhesive do you personally consider to be the best Greg ? UHU clear in yellow/black tubes is generally available in the UK,but a lot of the other UHU paper adhesive products are not available here.

It is interesting to see how card models seem to be increasing in popularity, complexity and diversity.

Obviously the internet has a lot to do with this. Who would have ever thought that a model could be e-mailed around the world!!

Thanks for bringing this amazing world to our attention GW, it has certainly opened my eyes to what is possible with these models.

Howdy Guys,

Well, sounds like RJ if off on to the waterin' hole (pub lol). So, onto barrys question. UHU Clear is fine, although white "elmers" type glue (white glue) also works fine, some people use glue pens, others super glue gel, I have used yellow wood glue before (but its not advised unless in hidden areas).
You might even get away with a glue "stick", but I have never tried it.
And as for cardmodeling gaining popularity, from what I understand, they never lost thier popularity in the eastern block countries of Europe (behind the Iron Curtain). Apparently after wwII, resources were low and there werent alot of Plastic kits to be had and if there were, they were priced too for anyone to buy. So, card modelling was the popular way to build toys and models.
Cardmodels actually go back further than that by several hundred yrs, but I am not really up to date on the history of card modelling.
The Internet however has brought card modelling to the United States though. I know there are shops in the UK that sell and have sold cardmodels for yrs and yrs. But their popularity has really just begun to blossom here in the US. If I tried, I could probably list over 5,000 links to card model related websites. I know that sounds like a "brag", but I truly believe I could especially with the resources of the computer and sites like google.
And as for the "thank you" you so graciously extended to me, The pleasure is all mine. As I said in a previopus post, I feel like the ultimate double agent, I have been attempting to get some of you interested in cardmodelling and to possibly visit www.cardmodels.net and at the same time, I have been trying to get my friends at www.cardmodels.net to come here and visit. One member joined the other day that I know of for sure and he is good people.
Ok, I have rambled enough, I will have more models in the near future to share, gotta go eat.

have a good day,

Greg aka GW
