| Commercial airline cardmodels Howdy Guys and Gals (sorry about not saying Hi to the ladies before now, I was unaware there were any here )
Ok, how about some easy models of just about any commercial airline airplane you can think of? Well, check out this site: http://www.airigami.net Just choose the part of the world you want, then choose the country, then choose the airline. Once you are there you can sort thru all the availible models they have from that airline. There are hundreds of easy to build, small aircraft here and with a little patients, you can "roll" the paper to remove that "square" look.
Below are a 747, a concorde and a 777 made from this site.
Have a good day,
Greg aka GW |

| Howdy Barry,
The pleasure is all mine. I know I havent posted a link in a few days due to my neck bothering me, but I didnt want ya'll to lose interest lol.
As I said in the original post above, there is just about any airline you can name on that site. They even have some of the smaller "Commuter" type aircraft that they use from city to city in close proximities...ie... like would be used to fly from Washington DC to say New York or Chicago. But they also offer the big birds like the 777 above.
And as for that "square" looking nose, you can remedy that by "rolling" that part of the model either on the end of a pencil, on the edge of a desk, or just roll it between your fingers to give a mode rounded look before glueing it together.
Heres more planes below:
Have a good day and I will be posting more links abit later. Any requests for anything in particular? If so, let me know and I will see what I can do for you all.

| Howdy Nigel,
Thats a cool Idea. I almost bought some styrene sheeting today at the hobby shop but decided not to at the last minute. That wont happen again, I know that some of the other freebies I have can be printed off on sheeting and constructed. One that comes to mind is the Piper J3 cub that can be found at www.fiddlersgreen.net as a freebie. (look at upper right hand corner of page for download).
I also have another cardmodel (see photo below) that I know could be made in plastic sheeting with little or no trouble. Its a Cessna 172 Skyhawk which can be found here: http://www.tzs.si/revija_tim/1999_20...2/izdelava.htm . Now I know you probably speak very few "Baltic" languages, and since I dont either, you will be happy to know that there is a photo essay on the construction on the above mentioned site. Again, since you are like me and are a "Bi Lingual Illiterate" (cant speak in two languages), in order to download this model, click on Predloga (format PDF - 370 kb) on the above site to start the download. (You can probably start the download by clicking on that here in this thread too).
Anyway, I have built this model and its a really nice plane, it comes in color, red and white and I also have another copy of the same model in all white, no markings at all, with optional floats if you would like it. If so you can email me and I will be happy to send it to you.
Anyway, below is the completed model I am talking about, I really think it could be made in plastic. The piper j3 cub photo is there too.
Have a good day,

| Howdy Barry,
No, there isnt, atleast not that I know of. However, I did run across a site last week with antonov an 2.
This is a retailers website as best I can tell and they are offering this ABC model as a free download. Once you get to the site, click on each thumbnail and they will enlarge, once enlarged, save them. Be sure to get the instructions on the left side of the page too. Heres the link: http://milinski.free.fr/avion_decoup.html . I know its not the dehaviland, but its its the best I can come up with. I did see the dehavilland model you speak of at the hobby store yesterday along with the plastic version of this plane. I may have to get them lol.
Below is a pic of the An 2 model cover page:
I know this isnt the same as the dehavilland, but its the only "large" biplane card model I know of. As you can see at the bottom of the cover page, this model is 1:33 scale when printed and assembled.
Have a good day,

| Howdy Barry,
no, I have never heard of them but there are tons of card model publishers out there, just like there are tons of designers. Matter of fact alot of designers are their own publishers lol.
So, if it looks good to you and you think you can build it, get it. If you find that its too complicated, then you can work on it abit at a time.
HOWEVER...............
If you purchase a cardmodel, not a downloaded one, but one in "book or packet" form, be sure and scan the pages before assembly and save the scans in your computer so you will have a back up copy of the pages if you mess up a part. This way, you can reprint a part/page if needed.
Have a good day,
Greg aka GW |
