Arrow Little Rock IPMS Card models

Howdy Guys,

I just wanted to share some photos of my friend Paul Opala's handy work which he exhibited at the IPMS show at Little Rock, Arkansas this year....just to give ya an idea of what some card models can look like.
IPMS has decided within the last year that they will now allow exhibits and compitition of card models, after all, they are scale models too, and the group IPMS could stand for International PAPER Scale modelers just as easily as International PLASTIC Scale Modelers.

I had a photo of the BF 109 model, but it appeared to be corrupted, however you can see it in the above pic of all three planes. If you will notice, you can see several card models in their "natural state" prior to assembly (they come as flat books).

Anyway, thanks to Paul for allowing me to photograph his work.

Have a good day,

Greg

Great news that the IPMS have finally accepted card models, what difference does it make whether a model is card, plastic or wood ? in recent years the multi media kit revolution has really taken off,if the shape is achievable in any material other than plastic then go for it.
One area that I would like to see improved in the provision of metal parts for undercarriage legs, and propellers in plastic kits, these as we know are the first bits to get broken off.

Greg, can I contribute (*steal*) your thread here?

I just entered card models in the contest DesertCon 2006, prepared by the cross-the-border city of El Paso, Texas, USA chapter of IPMS, last Saturday the 7th.

My models won 1st and 2nd and a Honorable Mention.

The president there announced that the IPMS was going to have paper as a cathegory for the Nationals (at least in the USA).

Here the models:

Howdy Guys,

Great looking models Gerardo, and congratulations on winning 1st and 2nd!
Barry, the spaceship one and the "White Knight" (mother ship) are availible online as free downloads for anyone who wants to build them. I dont have time to look up the links right this minute, but I will post the links when I come back online here in a few hours.

Have a good day,

Greg

Thanks for the undeserved compliments Greg
This is a second time that I was able to setup a paper model exhibit at my local club show (chapter of IPMS) but I never actually competed anywhere. Since IMPS will have paper categories in the nationals, our club will have them in 2007 show so no more "display only" appearance for paper models!!!

For more pics please visit: http://www.cardmodels.net/gallery/browseimages.php?c=58

Howdy Paul,

First, let me say How happy I am to see you here at this forum!, We are glad to have you. I hope that you will consider posting some here because there are alot of people who have shown interest in cardmodels since I "re introduced" them to the forum.
I am sure that the members here would also love to see photos of your work....(I know I kinda snuck the ones at the beginning of this thread on here), But, I was really impressed with your work at the show and just had to share it.
Even though this is a "predominantly plastic" forum, you will notice that the photos of your models were the ones that I thought enough of to post here although there were some really nice models at the show in Little Rock........Yours stood out to me.
Anyway, please post here when you can, give some tips on cardmodels, do a build thread if you have the time or just join in with the conversations, like I said, we are all glad you finally made it here. I am sure there will be someone who will want to know something about one of the models I posted at the beginning of the thread.

Have a good day,

Greg
