    @ More Planes

Here are two more planes that I built but unfortunately the heat here got them and they turned out a bit yucky anyway hope U all like wot I have tried to do in such adverse conditoins of 38 degree heat.

1st are F104a Strafighter, the 2nd two are B25b Mitchell of the Doolitlle Tokyo Raid Squadron.

    F104's

Nice model of an Aircraft which unfortunately suffered a rather disproportional failure rate as a Fighter in it's NATO role. Quickly superseded by better aircraft, the Fledgeling German Air Force Luftwaffe lost quite a few Starfighter Pilots, fast gaining a reputation as the Widow-maker. I'm told that the US Air Force prefered the old Thunderchiefs, Skyraiders, Skyhawks and even Sabres.

Part of the problem was ever improving weapon systems fitted to out-dated aircraft. Something our own Fleet Air Arm was a victim of....but that's another story.

I remember building one years ago...either Revell or Airfix made it, but I badged mine up in Luftwaffe style.

    Cheers...jules

    Howdy Russell,

Great looking models, sorry to hear that the heat got to them. I am not sure if you are aware or not, but you can use cyno-acrylate esther (CA) or super glue as its more commonly known as, for card models in place of white glue.
When I build them (and its been awhile lol), i use the cheapest photo paper I can purchase, it takes the color of the ink really well and holds it, plus its rigid like cardstock and the glues, which ever you use, dont seep thru the paper like uncoated cardstock.
I am not sure how much photo paper cost 'outback", but i can usually buy abput 20 sheets of high gloss for about $8 (US).
I have even made some of the smaller cardmodel aircraft out of the 4" x 6" photo paper, its alot more work transferring the parts to each sheet of paper, but the 4" x 6" paper is alot cheaper, usually $10 per 100.
Anyway, sorry again that the models were 'downed" by the heat, but you might consider my tips.

    have a good day,

    greg

Thanks for that tip Greg, I don't ussually have any problems as the glue I use is more of a gumtype than white glue. I do have some photo quality paper so I'll have a try at it. But when the temp is an average mean daily tempof 38.5 U and the models just don't stand any hope and we have tht for (so I fond out) 16 days straight a record for any Australian city ever. Thanks again Greg for the tip.
