Spitfire

I built this as it looked a simple plane to do and boy how simple was it, I wasn't supprised it turned out the way it did it had a few flaws in it but then again I'm still learnng the ropes of this cardstock building I know. The one problem I have with some of the aircraft I pick is that they don't have ribbing in them to strenghting them and hold them straight. Me's some of the designers and builders do this as a short cut or maybe they like me forget as well I don't really know.

Better than my first one turned out. I started trying to put it together and the paper kept sticking to my fingers. Eventually I got too frustrated and just ate what glue was left in the bottle and watched cartoons.

hahahahaaaa

OOps sorry was laughin at Mike's posting.

Howdy Russell,

The spit looks really good to me. I see that its the "Iron maiden" spit. That model was produced by "paper paradise models" if i remember correctly like several others.
So you are having trouble with aircraft without 'formers" or ribbing, well not to worry, i can give you a link to a cessna 170 skyhawk that has ribbing. its a simple model but turns out really nice and "large" (about 1:32 scale i believe).

Here is the model:

http://web.archive.org/web/20060728151214/www.tzs.si/revija_tim/1999_2000/Cessna_172/Cessna.htm

you will find the download to the right of the photo just above the adobe reader offer it looks like this--->
Priloga z nartom
<----You could just click that to start the download

The instructions are in the zip file and are illustrated instructions showing where each part goes. Now that particular model is red and white, if you would like a "color your own" model of the same aircraft, you need to click on this to download the plain white version: <--- Click here.
Now this version also comes with floats to make a float plane, but there are no instructions with the floats so you might wish to "keep it simple" for now or If you like, you can email me and i will send you some instructions for the floats that i made up myself.

here is what the completed colored version looks like, i built it several yrs ago.

Anyway, this is a model that even the scouts might like, the colored or non colored version. With the non colored version they could personalize their own plane

Again, the spit looks really good, keep up the good work!
have a good day and if you need any help or have questions, let me hear from ya.

Greg

PS, the glass area could be cut out and replaced with clear "overhead projection film" if you really wanna try something new. However, there is no interior seats , console, steering wheel etc.

I remember that Cessna Greg I found it about 12 months ago and decided to bilt it for my wife who learnt to fly in one, it fustrated the heck out of me so I went and bought a plastic one in 1/48th scale instead BUT now that I know the pitfalls of it well hope I do I'll give it another go.
