Hi tag, thanks for you comments.
Test build is proving a little more work than I first thought. It's not that complex but the 1/600 scale is making things a bit small by my normal standards.
I've gone back to the 3D model and added a few deck former to add some strength but other than that she's going together very well.

The next section, smoke stack and forward hangers, has not unfolded well. So it was back to Meta for some small adjustments.
Well, the small adjustments turned into a re-model of the whole area. I've had to compromise on the shape of some parts but they do unfold much easier.

Hello JT,
Can you tell us a little about the 3D software that you are using please. Having created your 3D model, does it produce 'folded out' drawings from the parts that you model?
cheers
Kelly
Hi Kelly.
The 3D software I use is Metasequoia LE, it's free and can be found at:
http://www.metaseq.net/english/index.html
When the model is complete I use pepakura to do the unfolding, it can also be found for free at:
http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/
I use photoshop for the textures but you can also use Gimp, guess what, it's free:

Thanks for the links JT. I checked them out, what a shame they are only for the Windows platform, I guess I shall have to search for a Mac equivalent, still, at least I know what it is you used and that's a good guide.
Cheers
Kelly
