*** Adz I think this is a situation whereby they are afraid that facilities for the summit will be in jeopardy,its a conflict of interests in this case politics vesus an airshow.
The CAA regulations and new charges will be felt next season when they will bite hard into the sponsors pockets,most of the larger airshows will carry on but the lesser mortals who organise small events will be the ones who suffer and find it impractical to carry on.
In East Fortunes case it is just unfortunate that the two events clash and vie for airspace,once again the CAA stipulate that a licenced airfield requires certain coverage ie fire,air traffic control etc the airspace in your area is pretty busy at the best of times.
As you say it is a great shame and hopefully the other event will make up for it.
