Can I just quickly add Nigel that any forum is not worth its salt without the people on board, this has been such a learning curve for me as well,to share and enjoy the knowledge and interchange of information on anything under the sun,I asked about plans for H.M.S Warspite and someone gave me a set as a gift,if ever I get stuck on the computer John and others like yourself are so patient, what has evolved is a unique blend of people and their knowledge quite unlike any other group,it sure is fun and keeps the old grey matter in good trim as well ! as we enter another year ( where exactly did 2005 go to ?) I look forward to the companionship and pleasure the forum brings with it,you guys deserve the very best, and that is what the team will always strive to give, the best of everything.
To give inspiration means that the future of our hobby is secure,as newbies come on board the hobby just gets better, thank you.

I find it quite interesting to think of our very diverse backgrounds and locations and the way that we come together to talk through this forum.

I can't think of many things more rewarding than passing on ideas and learnings from our years of modelling experience to youngsters just starting out in the hobby.

When I was young and had a Saturday job in a model shop (Airfix kits in the bag cost 2/6) there were many model shops around, Airfix, Frog, Revell, Aurora etc.. kits were everywhere and it was a very common young boys pastime. Nowadays young modellers are considerably fewer and we owe it to the young generation to help and encourage whenever we can.

I have to say I very much enjoy reading and writing messages on the forum and I hope it may well continue. How Barry has the patience to write as prolifically as he does amazes me but I can assure him that his time and efforts are much appreciated.

My thanks go to John as well for putting so much time and effort into giving us this facility and ensuring that it keeps going.

Like Barry said it's the members that makes a forum, without you/them there wouldn't be a forum it would have died long ago and thats the driving force behind this place. it's not down to one individual although some do go that extra mile to make it a more interesting place to come on a daily basis.

But for every member there are more guest that read your posts and learn from them, quite often there are anything from 20 to 60 guests on at any one time, as I type there are 37 guests on and hopefully some of those people will take the time to join and contribute to make it a stronger and more diverse community.

Long may it continue

Two of the best things in life.

Firstly, good advice from folk like Adzam and NTT (and others, sorry if I don't name you), as well as tips, knowledge from general browsing.

Secondly, I feel I have a new group of friends, people who I can call upon to help out should I need it. Says a lot when I have never actually met anyone!

Thumbs up TOP site

Hello all, as has been said so well before. It is the variety and diverse topics which drew me in and will continue to do so. Now this site takes top spot on my favourites list, admittedly it is third in line for a daily check, but it is almost now an every day ritual and has been so rewarding. I've not had much to post about that is as worthy of reading but can I just express my gratitude to all those who do post with great articles leading to some good discussion topics. Thanks lads and lasses all. Any help I can offer on tools or suitability then please just shout out and I'll offer my best advice.

cheers

Jim

These boards have been sooooo useful to me while starting my new business. John & Wonwingo (still dont know your name yet dude) have offered me so much help and advice its unreal! Plain advice, thats easy to read and understand. Their pointers have been ESSENTIAL with the startup of a new modelling business.

Ive been totally snowed under for the past couple of months getting everything ready- hence my lack of postings, i hope that come the end of january everything should be in place and i can contriubte lots more to the forums.

A valid point made by john, re: guest readers, i have spent literally hours just reading the forums for advice and research, for this they are perfect.

Happy Chrimbo All!
