| Wonwings diary-Back again after a rough ride Well after months of flustration, hard work and sheer hard work I am back again ! to single handedly move a very full house of a lifetime collection of models, tools, books and photographs is a very demanding task that I do not recommend to anyone, but it had to be done and lets just hope that it will never have to be repeated again,on reflection if I had known what I do now then I would have sat firmly tight and got the courts to sort it out,as it happens we have experienced huge financial costs to ourselves, promises have been broken and we have also been the victims of bullying,on top of this many models were damaged beyond economical repair and had to be scrapped, this was mainly due to items being placed one on top of the other without consideration,in other words and this is a warning to others, removal people do the uplift and deliver to the other address, instead of placing items ie boxes in a neat and tidy pile they were moved into the rooms from the front one after the other, and in consequence I could not even get into the room without moving everything to get in and sort things out ! then there is the problem of finding things ? items are still missing despite a search to locate them,I would never have believed that things could get lost the way that they did,a box is a box and despite proper labelling items easily get misplaced.
The one thing that I was dreading was bad weather on the days of the two moves, the first garden items/sheds move was on a glorious sunny day,it was a good job that it was otherise there would have been one soggy heap of sheds/garden tools/contents of sheds etc,the sheds had suffered as they had stood for far too long in the sun and rain which had warped them because of the delays,it took a bit of heaving and extra brackets to get them back together again properly, all of the roof covering had suffered and required a lot of attention, the five sheds were erected single handed in three days and by the fourth the workbenches and tools had been added,my attention then turned to the house, one room was turned into my library and also houses my huge Meccano collection which had to be on the ground floor as it was very heavy, then you get things like gas fittings to the cooker that were not compatible despite telling the people concerned to make sure they were, and my nightmare the new Broadband connection, the day came when ntl were intending to install the cables,a major snag was that the installation in the street had been hacked in two when a neighbour had built his forecourt, further delays tht mssed the second slot put everything behind schedule, and then there was my computer which never worked from the moment it was unplugged in Warwick,it was over heating and stopping,it took a new video card, new cpu, major clean to get it working again, even despite thefact that it was moved by myself and travelled in the car.
So you can see it really was no easy task and I learned a lot of lessons along the way,my biggest advice to anyone is do not move unless you really have to,it is good to be back here again and writing the blog again, all I need to do now is to catch up with events here.
The whole operation has left me physically and mentally exhausted, only now can I sit back and think about the past few months and weeks, now is the time to get my strength back and start enjoying life again, but it really is right when they say that a major move takes a year out of your life,in my case probably two !

| Hello mate, those look fantastic! gotta get my hands on one one once my lastest nightmare is resolved... Im moving house... After reading your thoughts above i am not exactly looking forward to it. After years of waiting im finaly going to the USA full time and that meens a transatlantic move is unavoidable. I have four boxes of 15, 20, 25 and 54mm lead fig's to move, Five tallships all with fullrig and all over 30"" in lengh and height, my collection of EVERY airfix warship kit produced and now my poor little Hms Eskimo as well as a couple of dozen 1:35 and 1:48 tanks and vehicles... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im totaly at a lost as to how to move the ships safely, the household stuff isnt the issue (all can be replaced) but how to find a shipper that fully knows the meening of "fragile" or "Handle with care" ? If you have any hard won wisdom let me know! Move date is going to be end august. Cortez might have burnt his ships when he arrived in the new world but i meen to keep mine intact! |

| The model collection finally sees daylight
Well after almost a year the collection is still undergoing unpacking from the boxes etc,as can be imagined this is a tedious and time consuming job, along the way any repairs are undertaken and the models are checked over and cleaned, amazing how much dust gathers after a few years ?
The small airfield scene is used for model photography complete with hand painted sky background.

| Barry I have to gree with U on many points although I have not seen James May video I can attest to the kids of today. Being a scout leader in todays Scouts and having returned to the movement after a 15 year break I was amazed to find that that kids of today can not carry a simple clasp knife (pocket knife) and when I fronted up to my first scout meeting wearing a multi-toll you would have thought that I commited a crime, I was told to remove which I did not, I was told that if I didn't I would be report to the police for carrying an offensive weapon to whixh I produced a letter from the police saying it was and I quote "nothing but simple pair of folding pliers containg a few screw drivers and one knife blade" to this the Group Leader said well then there's nothing we can do. I stayed woth that group for 3 years before moving onto another group where the only challenge I've had was for calling our then Prime Minister Mr. John Howard an uneducated moron and for having a night on the dangers of drugs and a survival night where I showed the scouts a few knives. The kids of today Barry are too wrapped up in cotton wool by their stupid dotting parents especially mothers and the sooner these people realise that the kids of today have got to get dirty and get a little bloody the worse of we'll be. I know this is a little of the track but I had to put in my 2 cents worth anyway on kids. |

.Quote Desert Rat Racer.
I do not believe for a second it is the kids with doting parents that are the worry. It is the kids with parents that don't give a T*** that are the problem.
