Smile Alternative Crystals

Gents,

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Hightec Laser 6 radio set for my model destroyer with the original factory fitted crystals. I would like to give myself a bit more flexibility by having a couple of alternative crystals in my box so I have now purchased a total of three alternative sets. The last two were actually made by Hightec but non of them want to work.

I have tried all sorts of combinations of them but I am certain I have the correct ones in the right places and the new ones are all 40 hz as are the originals so if anyone has any suggestions I would be very gratefull.

When I fit any of the new ones the radio does nothing so I am not sure if I am forgetting or missing something.

BB i`ve come accross this before,
there two types of crystals for hitec and futaba,
single conversion and dual conversion,
single conversion have a green tag on teh crystal whereas dual has a blue tag.
unfortunately they are not cross transferable, so a single conversion wont wor in a dual conversion reciever,
try checking your original crystals to check teh colour on the tab, if thats no good check teh hit website and look up your receiver to see which it`s compatible with.

www.hitecrcd.com

hope this helps.

Thanks Adz,

That makes sense as I've noticed blue and green tabs on the crystals. I'll have a closer look and see how it all comes together.

How nice of them to make it simple for us!! So now I need seperate crystals for seperate radio sets.... Aghh!!!!!

Thanks again for your help

Thanks Adz,

Checked it all out and your are quite correct. I also have an old Hitech Ranger that I use for the steam ship and the crystals work in that, with the single conversion green tabs, but not in the Laser 6 ,which has the dual conversion blue type.

Now I need to buy some more dual conversion crystals.

Thumbs up Nice Pond

Hello all, well Iain at least you've got a decent sized pond up there at Whin Park for some decent sailing. In all of the years that I lived in Inverness I never saw anyone else on there with an r/c boat. I don't know what the i/c stance would be on it though. You never know I might get the chance to re-enact old times when I'm on holiday this year. Looking forward to July and revisiting the old stomping grounds and showing the children why we still miss it so. By the way is there any chance of you submitting any digital photos of Pefferside Boating Pond in Dingwall to www.modelboatlakes.co.nr ?

cheers

Jim
