| If you can find the thread sometime last year regarding the workshop competition that Nigel put on I posted a couple of pictures in which you can see my Tamiya Bismark.
For that size range they are unbeatable. Lovely fit, nice detail, usual Tamiya quality. There are also plenty of PE accessories available, look at White Ensign models, to get the detail up to whatever standard you want.
They are a lot better than anything else plastic I can think of but you do pay that bit more for them. |

| The Enterprise is about 70.00 but the Bismarck, Tirpitz, KGV, etc are around the 30-40 pounds mark. |

| Richard,
That is actually a Deans Marine Cossack in 1/96th scale. If you look in my gallery you will see some shots of my model on the water.
It is a Fibre Glass hull with plasticard superstructure and white metal and resin details. Things like the funnels and boats are vac formed to keep it light. Hand rails are PE but the modeller in your link has added better railings and a bit more detail.
It can be made as a purely static model but most people make it into an RC kit.
Deans also make some smaller models if you fancy something a bit bigger but non of them are particularly cheap. The Cossack is about 275.00 pounds now but they do a WW1 destroyer which is a bit smaller. |
