Comes under that 'cute guppy shape' category I think ? have you noticed that modern aircraft are beginning to all look the same these days especially airliners,a metal tube for the fuselage with sweptback wings, with engines grafted to them,no character whatsoever.

Isn't that the same as cars though? When you think about it there can only be one perfectly aerodynamic shape that all manufacturers must strive to achieve in the pursuit of economy and efficiency.

Consequently all modern cars have to tend towards the same boring shape, just like aircraft I guess.

I love the Mud Duck! have the plans somewhere to build one day, this is built from foamboard, she flies like a dream.
A farmer actually used one to spray his crops with.

In answer to NTT'S post, Yes that most certainly is a Lunn, a very ugly but Capable machine in it's day.
Interestingly these surface machines are neither classified as aircraft or ships even today. Despite this, Machines like the Lunn and the Orljonok A-90 actually operate like normal aircraft once airbourne as the normal aircraft controls come into play and some of them can actually rise out of the surface effect into normal flight.

That Bartini I posted earlier was more than capable of normal flight as the pics on the link I posted show.

Ps........That Mud Duck in Duncan's post looks like a lot of fun !!!

Regards.........Mark.
