He 162 »» A10 ?

Howdy Guys,

Well, its been a while since my last posting and almost as long since I have been on the computer.
But, i am getting a few models built, one of my more recent ones was a 1:48 scale model of a Douglas Skyrocket.....a mid 50's rocket plane similar to the Bell X 2. Another was a "Zero" floatplaneand yet another was a P 47 Thunderbolt done in "Arkansas Blitz" livery.
I am currently so "swamped" with models that I have them everywhere in my house it seems, not just completed kits, but ones that are still in the boxes too.
Just estimating that every four kits cost me approx $100, (and thats a really low estimate since I am looking at 1:48th scale models of a B 29, B 25, B 17 as well as a 1:48th scale C 130 hercules which all cost closer to $50 on up to $80), I am figuring i am looking at somewhere around $3000 worth of kits now. And this doesnt even include the three airbrushes and all the paint bottles, spray cans and air compressors...... I think I may be addicted lol.
Anyway, thats not what I am writing about. I know I may sound like a really slow person when I say this, but, it just dawned on me while looking at my kits...... The A 10 "Warthog" Thunderbolt II, has to have been modeled in part on the German Heinkel "Salamander" or "Volksjagger" (peoples jet, or something like that).
Anyway, like I said, I was looking at the models and should have seen this a long time ago, I reckon I am just not noticing things like i should. But, have a lokk at the pics below and feel free to comment on them.
And, while you are at it, if you can think of other aircraft based on earlier aircraft, lets discuss them too.....I know that the Mig 15 and the wwII German "Huckbein" were very similar, but I know there has to be others as well.

Greg,after WW2 the influences of German aircraft towards American designs was very strong,dont forget that a lot of the scientists,draughtsmen and others went to work in America to pursue their genius,if it had not been for the German designs and Frank Whittles jet engine things would have happened a lot slower,hindsight is a wonderful thing especially in aviation.
Just think 'what could have happened' if Germany had won the war and not run short of fuel resources,things would be mighty different today.
The Mig 15 was also instrumental in leading forward a lot of designs,and as you say influenced by aircraft such as the 'Huckbein'
Keep buying those kits,one day there will be no supplies coming through,you need a good stash ! buy a bigger house.
