British Army - use of SNATCH Landrovers in Iraq

I've seen a lot of film of Brit's in Iraq using the "armoured" SNATCH Landrover, I was wondering does the British army have any purpose made Armoured Cars nowadays? It used to use the SARACEN Armoured car but recently it just seems to be either Warrior APC's or Landrovers.

In World War II there were a multitude of Armoured Cars all designed for a multitude of uses and used by both allied and axis forces - is it just a cost cutting measure that we don't equip our military with equipment fit for purpose?

I think I've seen more armour on the Landrover Defenders parked diagonally across the disabled parking bays of my local Waitrose Supermarket! And as for the fact that they are open vehicles - standing in the back of a Landrover and tying to hide behind a rollbar would seem to offer very little reasurance against incoming projectiles!

I have a friend who served in served in the Basra area in 2002,and he had to provide topmount to "armoured" rovers in a softtop rover, there is a logic in there somewhere....
And there was no blast wall at the their camp front gate,so they had to do a private job-go out, nick the stuff and build the bugger,
Oh and there was the Warrior on the gate-ex R.E.M.E. fitted with a dummy barrel!
And this is a top notch Rgt.
But then it is the perogative if every squaddie to bitch and grumble, but still do a damn good job.

It all sounds a bit "dads army"

They didn't have to requisition a delivery van and poke their rifles out of little hatches too?
