Images of Spitfire / Hurricane for Weathervane Ornament

Yes - it's an odd request I know!

I've got access to a plasma cutter at work and wanted to use it to cutout from steel plate an ornament for a weathervane. I went through the typical designs, cockerall, hourse and carriage, fish, barnyard animals but none of those designs screamed out "Make Me!"

Anyhow I thought about an aircraft motif and being a few miles from Northweald Airfield a Spitfire or Hurricane might make a nice and unusual design!

I've scoured the net for images but was looking for a photo of the aircraft from this kind of angle:

Does anyone have an assembled model that they could take a quick picture of, hopefully try to get the same sort of angle as the above P40.

Thanks in advance!

Howdy Alan,

Ok, I have a friend that lives in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. There in Jackson park, they have both a spitfire and a Hawker hurricane Monument of fullsized aircraft.
Below is a photo of the aircraft, maybe they will help.

If not, try a google search of "spitfire in Jackson park, windsor, Ontario, Canada.

An email aquaintance of mine, George Mock, is presently restoring the Lancaster Bomber that used to sit between the Hurricane and spitfire monuments, I went back through my email correspondence with him concerning photos of the aircraft and found the link to his site, one that is filled with photos : http://imageevent.com/gmockrcpilot/l...attleofbritain
There are 121 photos of the dedication ceremony of these monuments, most of which include photos of the aircraft. I hope these help.

PS: please take time to sign Georges guestbook (whoever views his site) and thank him for the wonderful photographs of not only the spitfire and hurricane, but also of the Lancaster Bomber.

Have a good day,

Greg

Alan,

Have a look at the BBC News website today,

There is a nice article on there about a rememberance service for Trainee Spitfire Pilots who died in the war which took place at RAF St Athan. There is a very nice pic of the Spitfire which did an Honorary Flypast in memory of the Spitfire Pilots.

The Picture is quite a nice one and suitably copied into your favourite paint programme can be enlarged, reversed or rotated to what ever angle you want.

The article is on this link:

Regards......Mark
