tamiya paints, problem with UK supply

i understand that some of the Tamiya paints have been recalled recently....

i have tried 2 local..ish model shops, one does not stock tamiya paints, the other has major gaps in the paint racks, these gaps are the colours i need !

anyway as i was getting desperate i found a UK ebay business seller who advertised the paints, so i bought the 2 colours i needed...

these 2 colours are to allow me to complete a model i started a while ago....

i eagerly waited for the postman to deliver the paints i bought off ebay and i got 2 tins of humbrol enamel instead....

there was a note saying tamiya cant supply due to a recall and that these paints ( humbrol enamel) were the nearest alternatives... and if i dont want humbrols to post them back for a refund of the cost of the paint.... great, send the paint back for the postal cost of £1.38 for a refund of £1.99 !!!

i just want some more tamiya paints, i have subsequently tried 2 other modelshops within a 50 mile radius of home who say there is a current supply problem with tamiya paints......

anyone know if this is true ? anyone know if these paints will be back in the UK shops before xmas ?- it seems most metallic colours are effected....

not sure on that one. as soon as they can i guess, they must be loosing so much money over this.

i have X-11 but not much, you can have it but how much do you need? it might not be enough, unless your spraying that in which case it could be.

Yes went into Antics to buy some soft sprays, even they have vanished from the shelves, the model paint market is grim at the moment with lots of holes in the racks, remember the days when Humbrol was plentiful ?

its a retired police boat, part of the metropolitan police marine support unit- based out of wapping on the thames- at this station there is a musueum which is run/ maintained by a couple of the current serving officers.... the public can view the exhibits at pre -arranged times -they have all sorts of artifacts and displays of equipment, and stuff including diving gear and models of their old police boats, we were there recently doing some research as we made one of the police boats for our LEGOLAND london attraction, sadly this boat is n ow out of service and is retired...... - but the musueum did not have a replica model of the boat in dispaly.... the officers said they were looking to have one done.... -needless to say we built the boat in bricks for display at windsor, now i am doing a non lego scale model of the same vessel, its 1 to 12th scale, and is RC, the paint is for alot of the chrome fittings, handrails, deck plates, and ' brightwork' on the vessel, when its done i want to take it up to wapping and let them have alook and hopefully give her a run on the thames !..
