very nice all of you!!! better than my almost 1m sq working space!!! i do sometimes use the kitchen "breakfast bar" and i spray in my booth in the garage but to be honest i like to model in my room as i have a lot of reference material on my computer at close hand...and i can have my music playing on my computer!

having looked at these pictures i need to tidy my benches up, - yours are all far tidier than mine !

i have a sign somewhere on my bench but i cant find it...... ( the wife bought if for me- ' A cluttered desk is the sign of a genius')


will take some pictures and then you can all sleep easy.....i'll shop you cluttered but organised chaos !

I did some work on improving my workbench space today. I purchased some shelf brackets from IKEA and mounted those to the legs of my table, enabling me to fit another worktop underneath the tabletop. Pretty much doubles up the space available for "junk". I made a tray from some Exterior Ply and some hardwood, this sits on the tabletop and when you need to clear away for another job it sits under the worktop.

I think I'll make another couple of those trays. They are ideal for helping to double up the available bench space and help to organise the tools you use on various jobs too.

I also cnc'd some little compartmentalized trays for storing Lathe Tools and Micro Drill bits, milling cutters etc. Being able to find stuff - should help make all those little repetitive Lathe jobs a little easier too.

Now I do like those little wooden tool boxes. You would never believe it but I rescued a couple of large wooden catering tea boxes which are beautifully finished and split into compartments for the differrent tea flavours. I use one of them for my tools and stuff for the lathe and miller and the other one for boat materials such as rigging etc.

I have a thing about boxes, you can never have enough!!

Here is our building/decalling and delicate paint area. We have a computer near us so we cam look at reference stuff, mighty handy for those ejector seats or decalling Pan Am stuff.

Hey Johnny were U in scouts at some stage I see u have a board full of knots that only a scouting person would have. I'm still init or should I say I returned after a 15 yr break. Just luv it the kids like to learn wot & know I did when I was their age . Unfortunately due to insurance they can't do wot I did at that age. Mummy & daddy night think they'll get hurt, it's so sad.

Yep they can't even climb a tree now.
Though to be fair it is all the adults doing as children interviewed for Newsround a few weeks ago said they'd love to do these things. To think it's adults of my generation mostly....hmmm.... must have been all those Charley Says that we saw when we were growing up!
