Catch Me If You Can was on TV the other night by co-incidence Perry...good film I thought...I came away with the notion..."Who says crime doesn't pay?", and, it was a true story!... he certainly had more than his fair share of cake, and got to eat it too!!!

Sour grapes on my part...

With that I'm off for a pint...

Better to be a refreshed failure than an un-refreshed success....

Thanks by the way for the info on the Sea Harrier....jules

This thread has brought back so many memories of Airfix kits I had as a kid. I can't remember a lot of what I had there were so many. Most if not all were influenced by the box art and Airfix was so superior in that respect.

Some of those that stick in my mind and still influence my decisions today;
Airfix 1/72 Bristol Beaufighter
Airfix 1/72 Mosquito
Airfix 1/72 Spitfire MKIX
Airfix 1/72 AEC Truck and gun
Airfix HO/OO Soldiers British 8th Army and German Afrika Corps
Airfix 1/72 Tiger Tank
Aurora Seaview submarine
Airfix Boeing 707. Can't remember the scale.
This one I bought after we went to watch the first 707 land at Birmingham airport, that was such a giant of a plane at the time.

Even back then I was extremely patriotic and mainly only wanted British craft. About 90% of all kits I had were British subjects.

I remember seeing an Airfix dogfight double of Hawker Hurricane and Doodle Bug in my local shop. By the time I had saved up my pocket money it had gone. I never did manage to get that kit!

I seem to remember playing with those models quite roughly and they took a lot of abuse. They certainly didn't seem to be as fragile as today's counter parts.
Sadly non of the models or toys I had as a kid lasted as they were either thrown out or given away by my parents!

Anyway just a couple of thoughts from me, thanks for the subject Perry, great memories!
I know what you mean there Richard, I have that very kit still unbuilt in my shed from 1978 with that Box-Art. I will get around to building it one of these days.
