For those that have never used Vbulletin forums before here's a little tutorial to show how to upload your pictures so others can view them, I'm using Adobe Photoshop but Paintshop Pro is very simular and you can download a free 30 day trial from www.jasc.com

First of all load up your paint program, then go to Open and browse for your picture, once loaded choose "Image" from the drop down then Image Size in Photoshop or Resize in Paintshop Pro



You will then have the rezise box


Make sure the "Constrain Proportions" box is tick (Photoshop) or "Maintain aspect ratio" (Paintshop Pro) then all you need to do is enter the width size making sure it's set to pixels and the height should correct it's self.

Not forgetting that the maximum picture size is 640x480 pixels then go to save-as and save as either a .jpg or .gif

Now you have your correct picture size it's time to upload it, on the forum start a new post as normal then once you have typed your text scroll down and you will see a "Manage Attachments" button


Click on that and a new window will open


Use the 'Browse' button to find the file you want to attach, then click 'Upload' to add it to this post.

Repeat this process until you have attached all the files you require.

If a file has the wrong size or file type you will get an error messsage

This will tell you if the file is wrong, correct it by making the adjustments required.

Once you are happy with your attachments, close the window that will bring you back to where you was posting.

The press Submit New Thread button and everything should be fine

I have Corel Photohouse which can resize pictures in a similar way, but from memory, size is in metric or Imperial measurements.

Is there an easy correlation to Pixels?

Can I load from this program?

I haven't used Corel Photohouse but I would have thought that all paint programs should have the option in pixels as well, and yes you can use the files you save from it as long as they are saved in either .jpg, .gif or .png

I've just made a slight change, you shouldn't need to resize the pictures anymore, just attach the image as normal and the forum will resize it for you.

It must be in either .jpg or .gif

All my pictures are jpeg so that should be OK - at least when I find the originals and scan them in :-))))

How come Barry and others can post larger size images? All my come up as thumbnails. I scan them to Paperport, export to a folder and the attach from there.
Should I be doing something else?

Because they are imbeding them in to the post using the img tags, not always a good idea as it can slow things down for people ok 56k

I think that embedded photos make the threads more pleasing on the eye; it breaks the text up into reasonable sized sections. I agree that embedding any photos will certainly slow down the loading of the page but assuming that the person downloading is interested in the subject matter (why else would they be downloading!!) they will presumably want to see the thumbnails at full size anyway so the time taken overall will be approximately the same.
