Hi John
I would like to take all the software off the hard drive and then reload it I am operating win98 I downloaded kodak shareware and it hasn't been what I thought it would be and have tried everything to delete this kodak software even from the hard drive but the the icon on the bar still appears. Hope this is more of a help.

You will need to format your harddrive but this will delete EVERYTHING so make sure you have backed up everything you need.

I'm working a little blind now it's been a long time since I have done a win98 machine.

Download this from bootdisk.com run it making sure you have a floppy in your drive, once you have done that just to test it reboot the machine with the floppy in (I can't test it as I don't have a floppy drive in my computer) once it has booted in to DOS check to see if your CD drive is working, put your win98 cd in the drive and type d: or it might be e: press return, type dir then return see if it lists the cd contents.

Hopefull that is all ok if it is come back and I will talk you through the rest

Unless there is another system available, it might be a little tough to let anyone know that it didn't go well.

Most Microsoft OS installs give the user the ability to format the HDD prior to the base load. Depending on how old the hardware is, some systems require basic CDROM drivers to be loaded prior to them being seen by the system. Gonna be tough to install an OS when the system will not recognize the CD.

Anyway, Good Look John !!!!

That's why I said try the bootdisk first

Most systems now will allow you to boot from CD but that will only work if the CD is bootable in the first place.

Seems like a pretty drastic way to get rid of an icon!
Presumably you have used the Add/Remove program function from the Control Panel to remove the unwanted files but this has not removed the icon.
If this is the case, simply right click on the icon and delete it.

If you are still concerned, try one of the Registry Cleaner/Optimiser programmes like the one by SysTweak. This will remove any disconnected registry entries that may be hanging around.

computer help

Hi IainM
Yes I have tried all that, trouble is all my pics are still showing the kodak logo and it has upset my burner which use to wriite in the 1st vacant place in the cd.Now it writes straight over the original burn. I also think that this programme has many links with other files or programmes in the computer.Sorry i am not too much into computers. Would your suggestion remove the kodak files /icon and how would I do this ?
martin
