Colour trace in background.

My set up has developed a colour trace in the background, some ghosting of images etc,it fluctuates,if I reboot it comes back after a while,is there any solution and what can the cause be ? recently had the video card added, could that be the problem ?
Any advice very welcome or any tests that I could do myself.Thank you.

What I would do to test if it's your monitor is take a screen grab of the images that don't display right, then view the screen grab and see if the distortion is in the same place, you could also update your video card drivers, or if they are the latest try using a previous version see if that helps

*** John, screen grab shows the colour distortion, does that mean that it is 'not' screen related or otherwise ? I have a spare monitor if that is the case.

Here is the screen grab, when I drag a file into Paintshop it leaves a trail behind it,is that another clue to the problem ?

The picture looks yellow to me so I would not say it's your monitor, try reinstalling your graphics card drivers and see if that works, what card do you have?
