Don't you just hate computers....

....when they go wrong. For some reason the other night my computer stopped 'seeing' my printer. According to the printer info my Epson cx6400 is the default printer but when I try to print the computer tells me it's not connected to a port. I tried to reinstal the CD but that wont download either - the installation just hangs after a couple of minutes. Apart from this, each time I try to shut down the computer using the start menu I get the nag screen saying the program is busy - if I click on 'wait' I eventually get back to the desktop and can shut down normally but of course it's quicker to just click on 'end task' but I'm stuffed without my printer I use it such a lot. Anyway my computer is five years old now (800 processor) so I might lash out and get something more upto date. Unless some wizard on here can tell me what the problem might be.

Have you tried removing your printer before reinstalling it again?

Ian,I had a similar problem, the answer was to 'exit' on a scanner that I had connected, anyway it worked for myself and could be the cause of your problem, make sure the port is not in use by something else.
