Has anyone come across this one and, if so, how did you 'fix' it please?
Driving me to distraction.
XP Home on a Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO D laptop.
Shutting down windows using approved method exits windows properly but does NOT 'disconnect' from the battery i.e. the battery indicator remains active and, over about 1.5 days, battery is fully discharged.

Didn't used to do this.

I've tried all the various settings on power management and none fix the problem.
I now can't work out whether its a windows issue or a laptop hardware issue.
Needless to say, the laptop is way out of warranty so F*S* are not really any help at all.

sorry if you shut down it cant be windows has to be hardware unless you have activated "wake on " lan, modem etc that is in bios ????

Hi Iain if you put your Xp disc in the CD drive then let thr machine boot from it then choose repair this should sort you out.

Iain, ive not heard of this before but it could be:

a)power mangement settings are not fully turned off/are not applied propperly.
b)that the system is setup that way in the laptops bios (press del at startup to enter the bios)
c)that your bats on the way out (unlikelly to be honest)
d)that part of the windows install is corupted, a free windoze install would solve this (remmber to back everything up!)
