Computer Problems Solved

Hi All
Had so many computer problems in the past that I went on to the Dell site and bought one. Nice not to have to keep booting up or waiting till it decides to load up the next page. This dell is so fast I call it wooosssshhh..

Just had to get it off my chest.

Always nice to get a faster computer, the only trouble it's not long before it doesn't seem as fast

Funny you should say that.Did anybody know that the layout of the QWERTY keyboard was to slow the typist and/or the typewriter down because of all those slow machanical parts in the old typewriters. True.. But thanks I am now enjoying my woooosssshh

*** Now I have heard this said before,so are we now using a system that probably is not the best for our present keyboards ? the ergonomic layout certainly has a natural feel,I learned my typing skills ( albeit one fingered but can type quicker than two) from my trusty old Remington,a present from my dear Auntie.
Tell us a little about the spec of your machine,it sounds very interesting.

I had also heard that the other reason for QWERTY was so that the typewriter arms of the most common letters were thereby kept far enough apart that they didn't clash against each other on their way up and down and jam up.

You got it Kiwi to slow the travelling times of the type bars as they sit in a half segment ie different .The full stop is at to the most right as it is operated by the little finger. Too much presure or speed would put a pin hole in the document being typed.

Fascinating stuff this, amazing what we take for granted in our everyday life,I see that Patrick Moore still uses one of those old typewriters,he sees no reason to change apparently.

Ideal Seaspray, sounds good, once you have used a flat screen then you will never go back, the shops are full of periphials here going for a song, how stuff becomes obsolete so quickly as John has pointed out.
