MS Access Database.

I just had a computer fried due to a lightning storm and had to have the hard drive, floppy drive, modem and monitor replaced. Luckily the insurance company paid out for it all and it was returned to me with Windows 98 second edition. I have installed all my prorams and that is where my problems have arisen.
I installed MS Office (which consists of Word, Excel,MS Binder, Powerpoint and Access), These were all installed from the CD in one go and all work fine except for Access. When I try to open this I get the message :"Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine"
I don't understand this as all the other programs from that CD work fine.
Anybody have any clues how to get it to accept the license for the CD?

I take it that you're using MS Office Pro. Is the CD the full version or an Update CD. If the latter then that will be the cause of the problem. If full version then go to Control Panel and Add/Remove programs - uninstall the MS Access element form MS Office, restart PC and then similarly add MS Access.

El Ken, I just checked and it's Office Pro 97. On the Uninstal program it doesn't split it down into it's components?
Thanks
PS Just tried instal/uninstal components from the disc, still doesn't work.

Registration Error Installing Older Data Drivers

You may get a registration error if you attempt to install an older data driver such as the Paradox or Lotus 1-2-3 driver after installing Microsoft Office 97. For instance, installing Microsoft Visual FoxPro version 5.0 after installing Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Access 97 will cause the registration error.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/archive/de...ReadmeFile.asp

Try uninstalling all of Office Pro and then reinstall.
