[/Paid the price though, it cost me a day round the Trafford Centre going clothes shopping with Annette. Our feet were like lead when we got home, unlike the considerably lighter wallet. Still she's worth every penny![/quote]

Worth every penny is that the Laptop or Annette lol

Anyway what Squiff says is right you need to also go into registry to see what programmes start up as well! You will find all manner of rubbish that saps performance running without you knowing it!

Squiffy,I am listening and taking note in the background here,if ever I get another laptop ( and I probably will one day especially one like this ) then it could be one like Bunkers has purchased, you are a useful chap to have on board for sure, yes please, write up any tutorials on the ins and outs of tuning, but please keep it so us non-geeks can understand easily ! if you can tell us where to go and what to tune up please, that would be much appreciated.

You can get a Gforce 6200 256MB for less than £50, there a good cheap card and will work fine, or you could get a 6600GT for about £120 that will motor

Right guys, i will begin writing the tuts tommorow and post them in this forum seperatly, that way if you have any problems we can keep it thread specific, and dont worry ill keep the instructions simple.

I'll also write some brief HP specific notes for you as there are options that your laptop will have that most others dont, both good and bad!

Steven, when you say tobe do you mean me??????? If your talking about BF2 then the specs are STUPIDLY high! (thats a whole thread in itself). The other thing is you said you are upgrading your ram, for modern games you really want AT LEAST 400mhz speed ram. this is oftern seen as "PC3200", lower speeds will work but no-where near as well! Also you would have to check your motherboard suports 400mhz.
