just a theory, maybe someone with more computer knowledge than me can give a better explenation |

| lol, wow.for once i know what im talking about...kind of! true its best to get a plug-in for wmp but these are sometimes hard to come by.
i use vlc (video lan controler) for playing all my videos, it plays everything, mpeg,avi,xvix...etc everything! and it only plugs itselft into the things you ask it to! get it by searching for vlc on google, it will be about the 4th result down!
Im guessing that your computer does not have USB ports, thats why you have baught a USB Hub, to get my pictures off my camera, instead of using the cable that directly links to the computer i use a card reader. it is about the same size as a USB flash disk but instead you put your cameras card into it and slot it into your usb drive.
you can then read it just like it was a folder on you pc (if you select it from the auo-program select thingy that pops up when you put it in)
its so much easier, no import, twain, aquire things. just copy and paste the ones you want...etc
hope thats all made sence, im a little tipsy (end of a long week!) |

| The problem is the USB sockets are on the rear,so being against the wall I need more sockets as well, silly place to put them ? yes those card readers sound good, they have a multi slot reader in Asda at the moment on special offer, all good advice this.

| Barry,
I had trouble with my USB ports, two at the back like yours, when powering the modem supplied by Tiscali. Their help desk fellow told me that some of the SIS chipsets (these are the power controllers for the USB) offer insufficient current , thus causing the modem to be erratic.
If this is true (and your motherboard has the same chips) a better bet could be to get a mains powered hub.
