Stumbled across this excellent site,which explains in detail all about file formats and how to manipulate the file names especially re-naming tricky files,there are so many excellent sections on handling images in Photoshop as well as creating un-usual effects as well,anyone who has the job of handling large batches of pictures like myself on a daily basis,will appreciate the hints and tips here to make the job easier,read it section at a time as there is a lot to take in.

Barry do you use Photoshop or Paintshoppro? If its photoshop i have loads of links i can post, both for tutorials and file formats etc.

***Well Paintshop Pro was my favourite until I discovered one called Photo Impression 3,it is so much more flexible to use,I dont know what we would do without these paint programmes Squiffy,any additional info is welcome,thank you,I am no expert with them still finding my way around them.

Never heard of it barry, Photoshop is the industry standard so i use that, its great! Its by far the most powerful graphics app out there but it does, like all programs, take a little getting used to!

I dont know one single person whos tried photoshop and then reverted to their old program!

Also you can pick up a second hand copy of the student version for pennies these days!

Interesting thought Barry. I have used Paint Shop Pro now for years as I always found Photoshop too complicated for what I wanted it to do. Also Paint Shop Pro had a very good browser that Photoshop didn't incorporate until recently so now it is a case of what I am used to.

Finally PSP was usually around $100.00 and Photoshop was around $500.00 so it was never a contest for me.

I have never heard of Photo Impression 3. Whose software is it and what sort of price are we talking about for it?

PSP has now actually been bought out by Corel so it has become part of their portfolio. Shame as I remember cutting my teeth on PSP4 as a shareware download many years ago.

Photo Impression 3 came as a freebie with my flatbed scanner,it is a bit like PSP but far more flexible and the TWAIN industry standard imports itself no hassle,I tried Coral Draw but could not get on with it,however some people have had good results with it.
As yu say it just depends on what you are used to,until people introduce you to these software programmes you do not realise that they exist.
