| When you think of all of those delicate negatives that get scratched and mishandled by the processing shops, it makes you realise how invaluable the digital system is,many negs that I would have thought were scrap have now been salvaged, for example one film got caught in the camera ( remember those days fiddling with 35 mm film on a cold day ? ) you just never could be sure if the film had latched on successfully to the winder mechanism, well this time a score mark appeared across the emulsion, not being one to throw things out,and thinking well one day there may be a solution ? and as luck had it happened and technology led the way to success ! with careful manipulation those scratches have been removed on the entire length of the images, thus saving an historical record for ever more.
Once more remember those old wrinkled photographs of uncle in his army uniform ? well no need now to go to expensive photo retouchers in the high street, everything is now within our grasp with these scanners and the backup software available, still learning but its real fun,and how can you describe the buzz that you get from seeing an image that was taken 50 years ao and has never been properly finished off from that old negative..the experience is just priceless.
Never heard of the infra red process Squiffy,it sounds interesting.

RdDTReBLe I think it is fair to say that we have enjoyed an incredibly freindly, positive, helpfull and supportive atmosphere on this forum for a very long time.
There are a great number of people who are more than willing to go out of thier way to help and support other members for no other reason than they enjoy doing so. We seem to have representation form just about all areas of modelling, photography and computing and people such as Squiffy, who are also heavily involved with trying to get a business of the ground, are a valuable and much appreciated resource.
I hope that you are able to take advantage of our forum, learn a bit of something along the way, contribute your own experiences in a similar positive manner and realise that everything that is offerred is given freely as a personal opinion and does not therefore deserve sarcasm of the type seen above. |

There are a great number of people who are more than willing to go out of thier way to help and support other members for no other reason than they enjoy doing so. | I agree and I don't want to upset people here I've spent many hours reading and learning from people here, but I have been a member here for about a year although not very active, but I bet there are a lot of people here like me that enjoy reading and learning from you guys, in that time I've read a lot of post by squiffy and almost all of them he seems to pull people down or have the attitude that if you have done it he's done it before only did a better job of it, I am a network administrator by trade and I'm a MS certified engineer so I do know what I'm talking about when it comes to computers, so to have a person that seems to know everything about everything tell me I don't know my job I got a little knarked, so sorry for upsetting people here and if the admin wants to ban be then I fully understand |

| I don't think for a minute that anyone wants to ban anyone.
If you do feel narked though, I am sure that a word of explanation would be better received than a sarcastic comment.
Very few of us know each others proffession so all we can try do is to offer assistance based on our own experiences which may be at odds with a proffessional point of view.
I think you came over a bit abrupt which is very rare on here so came as a bit of a surprise. |

RT | ReDTReBLe active or inactive you are still a valued part of the forum, personally I don't think your comments were in any way wrong, but then again maybe I've spent a lot of time on forums over the years and try not to read more than is needed in to a post, if you dig too deep it can be read wrong or other peoples perceptions may not be the same as yours, so what is meant as a joke by you might be seen different by others, I hope you continue to visit the forums and continue to post and not let this put you off |
