| Keyboard problem ? A friend got in touch this evening regarding her keyboard, she says that when she keys for example the £ sign, she gets the # sign, etc.
Now a long while ago I had this very same problem but cannot remember exactly what it was or how I solved it ? was there not a bug or something that changed the keyboard strokes ?
I will need to sort it out as she is not computer literate but uses her machine all the time on E-bay,can anyone please lead me in the right direction here ?
Will changing the keyboard solve it,or is the problem deeper than that ?

| her keyboard language is probably set to american (stantard setting when windows is installed)
if she has xp go to:
start > settings > control pannel > date, time, language and regional options > regional and language options
in the regional options tab make sure it is set to english (united kingdom) no english (united states)
hopefully this should work, if not there is a way to change the keyboard language but i cant remember exaclty, hopefully some one else can help on that! |

| | All Round Modeller | Yep,
Richard has hit the nail on the head above, keyboard settings just need to be changed to UK English as opposed to US English and that is it sorted.
Regards......Mark

| it wont be the keyboard, a keyboard either works, dosnt or random keys stop working, they will never put out wrong characters (unless someone has taken the keys off and moved them all around) it is the software that makes them produce the characters! |

| ***Well RJW I checked it out today, and guess what ? it worked fine,at the time she was on E-bay and says that the £ showed the #,and vice versa,it would appear then that this was an E-bay software problem ? I am sure that you are right the keyboard will either produce the correct characters and not work correctly if there is any software problem, but it is a bit weird happening like that. Quote: |
