***Its a right pain Guy,this is where all of those discs and saved data come in handy,I have a shelf of discs saved at regular stages, also one of those box files with all the installation discs, now that you you have a brand new computer why not start afresh and save on a regular basis ? it is amazing how they mount up over a period of time.

the really stupid bit is i do regually back up my data, i left the machine on overnight as it was updating our parts catalogue from the big daddy system in denmark, the catalogue has all the parts listed with images, part numbers, which set the part comes from, and all the data eg colour, date in production, date out of production and similar, it takes approx 6 hrs to download all the details for about 11,000 items, so i left the machine on, i did not shut down and as a result actually lost alot more than normal !- luckily i have 3 mass storage devices with all the crucial data on, - the daft bits are when i log on here my old machine remebered my log in details- ( shame i did not !!!!) so when i tried to log back in i had to get my password reset......
also i had to re - enter scale models in my favourites list....!

damm the IT guys- if only they had asked first.... and when i ask for a nice new flat screen monitor nobody listens !
