IAM Dropedframes Config cannot initialise interface.

This is ther message that I get when I sometimes activate my video camera,I say sometimes because it will run perfectly for weeks on standby just in case anyone wants to speak to me on Messenger, then all of a sudden it will drop out,the only solution is to do an un-install,then re-install the driver disc,my question is why does it do this after working perfectly for a long time ?
Will there ever be a day when one driver works all on a computer ?

Sounds like either a prob with your graphics card or the interface mate ????

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx Is the link for DX9.

But i agree with Nigel, sounds like graphics card driver conflicts to me or the cam its self. Dropped frames usually means that your missing frames out of a sequence. IE: a 28fps (frames per second) bit of footage might only have 16 frames due to drops.

Sorry i cant be more specfic this time barry! :-(

No problems Squiff, and thanks Nigel,I always keep a computer log to try and trace things like this, but nothing new etc,it will run perfect for a month then all of a sudden drop out,I notice that Asda no longer have this particular model on sale ? I wonder if they have had reports of problems with the software ?
What is the longest cable you can run from a cam like this ? I want to rig it up so that it points to the front door, and which extension cable do I need if it can be done ?

Cable length depends on a few things, but i have a friend who is using a USB camera for the same thing, its about 10m from his computer, any further than this and things get a bit sketchy!

You can however get wireless cameras very cheaply these days, this might be worth a look?

Or for the hardcore approach you could network a small pc where the camera is running but obviously this is ALOT more work (although nowhere near as complicated as it sounds!)
