| Idiot computer user & Screen snap shot option Hello all, Yes I'll admit it I did once know how to take a snap shot of the screen in view and then copy it into a message / posting to the forum. Please can anyone remind this idiot how to do it? Many thanks for your (not too rude) assistance :grin
cheers
Jim

| I always use Paint Shop Pro to do this but I am assuming that you do not have this.
To copy the window or screen contents: - To make a copy of only the active window, press ALT+PRINT SCREEN.
- To copy the entire screen as it appears on your monitor, press PRINTSCREEN.
To paste the image into a document, click the Edit menu in the document window, and then click Paste. |

| or Crtl+v (paste) but you wont be able to then copy the image and paste it into the post (ctrl+c is copy)
....you will be able to see it but no one else will. you will need to save it and add it to the post as an attatchment. |

| Howdy Jim,
Ok, I am not real sure if you are just wanting to "copy and paste" abit of text, or post a photo from another site, or make a screnshot of the entire computer screen you are seeing now....so, I will just tell you how to do each one. lol
to copy and paste something like text and or some photos from other sites:
Left click and hold "infront of" the text or photo to be copied, drag cursor across all of text or photo to be copied (it will then turn blue). Next, hold down "ctrl" and hit the letter "c". This will copy the text or photo to your clipboard for pasting.
To paste the txt or photo here in the forum, hold down "ctrl" and hit the letter "v". This will transfer the text or photo here to the text box.
The second way to post a photo here:
At the top of this text box (when making a reply or starting a new thread), you will see what looks like a "forward and reverse" button. Directly below the "reverse" button is a box with what appears to be a mountain and a small cloud in it. Click that, then go to the website where the photo you wish to have here is located, right click on it, then click on "properties" then you will see a "URL Location", copy and paste that address into the box (opened by clicking on the mountain button). Then hit enter and the photo will appear here.
Now for a screenshot (a copy of the entire computer screen):
hold down "alt" then hit "prnt scrn" (up by F 12) this will copy the entire screen. Now, go to "start" in the lower left corner of your screen and then go to programs, then to accessories then to "wordpad", "word" or "notepad" and open one of them. Once it is open, hold down "ctrl" and hit the letter "v" to print the entire screen there. You could also use this function to copy the entire screen, and then open a new thread an post that "screenshot" in the new thread.
I hope this helps, have a good day,
Greg
Ps:. later on i will tell ya'll how to find oddball symbols like the
¢ £ © ™ ® and even symbols such as the √ and fractions like
¼ ½ ¾ etc... all of which are already on your computer and ready to be used in letters, texts such as forum threads and in drawings. Just let me know when Ya'll are ready lol. |

| Howdy Jim,
Glad I could be of help, now if you need translation of what I said.....lol just let me know. Sometimes you mean to say something in text that loses something when read, so my explainations may be as clear as mud to you or others, if so, just ask and I will try to clarify.
have a good day,
Greg |

| ***We typed at the same time as each other, anyway pleased to report that the system does work perfectly in XP,never realised that there were so many hydroglyphics on our computers that were hidden away like that ? wonder why they did it that way instead of say placing it into Word direct ? it would be more user friendly, but at least it is there.
Many of these signs could easily be used in making home brew decals. Quote: |
