| Mystery virus ? JxnDTnw9SFY[1].tiff Downloader
Can anyone throw any light on this one please ? Nortons picked it up on a web site from the U.S.Navy,but attempts to find it failed,I have scanned a few times but it is nowhere on my system ? a bit worrying as I hope that it is not one of those types that lurks then erupts after a while.
How could it pick it up,then after a scan it was not there ? baffled.

| It's a temporary Internet file, it's probably not a virus more likely a file Norton isn't sure about and has deleted it |

| Howdy guys and Gals, I wanted to share an anti viral program with ya'll that I have used for yrs now. Its called AVG ANTIVIRUS and is free for personal use. I have used it on my computers for about 5 yrs now. The program "self updates" everyday and can be set to scan your computer anytime you want, even while you sleep. By Updating daily, you stay ontop of the newest viruses within a few days of the viruses first hitting the internet. This program has an email scanner built in and will even scan (several) Java applets prior to initiating them. Its the absolute BEST FREE ANTIVIRAL PROGRAM I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. The website provides virus removal tools (incase you happen to get a virus before a new update comes out) as well as an encyclopedia of viruses, with the virus' various names and aliases and even tell s you where to find them in your computer and how to go about removing them. If you come to a site that i affected by a virus, it alerts you instantly and begins the scanning process automatically. Then isolates the virus and stores it in a "virus vault" until such time as you delete it. I cant explain all the technical aspects of it, but, I really seriously reccomend it to all my friends online. You can find the free download program here: http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/.../lng/us/tpl/v5 So, look over the site for the various features and if you download it, let me know what you think of it. Hope this helps someone....its saved my computer too many times to count. It makes a great addition when used in conjunction with other programs like Nortons and mcafee's as well as spyware removal tools like ad aware and spybot. Have a good evening, Greg |

Thanks Greg, together with these two downloads it detected 126 problem areas of spyware that have now been resolved,I noticed an immediately quicker system so these things must slow things down a lot ?
It is odd how one system picks things up that others miss ? so from now on it is a regular check to keep things at bay.
Check your system everyone,it may not be as clean as you first thought ?

| | Scale Model Member | I also have AVG and have used it for years. I sometimes still find that it "misses" the odd one here and there BUT nothing as yet that has done any damage. I also use "spybot (search & destroy)" its also free and goes where AVG dont or cant. Spybot even killed off that "dragon worn thing" from several years ago. Anyways we all have what we think is best but I swear by AVG & SPYBOT 2 of the best free ones out there.
