Clipboard Query ?

Now having found the clipboard in Windows XP ( not as easy as it seems and a copy now on my desktop ) I need to cut and paste a message from there, however I cannot find a way of doing this because it will not allow me to ? what is the point of having a clipboard if you cannot transfer info from it ? unless there is some setting that allows you to do this ? any ideas anyone please as I need to use the clipboard facility.

Tried the shortcut but still no joy ? I have managed it in Windows 98 but it will not take it in XP for some reason, give it a try and see if it works on your system John ? it will just not allow the copy/paste actions for some reason ?

Howdy Barry,

Ok, I dont have windows XP ( Extreme problems) but I do have 98SE and occassionally have the same problem as you do.
Your clipboard is copying the info you are trying to copy.......the problem is, it just wont show up on your clipboard.

Heres whatcha do.... Try opening microsoft word, wordpad or note pad...or all three. After selecting the text you wish to copy by highlighting it (left clicking infront of the first word holding the button down and then dragging the cursor over all you want copied, hold down ctrl then hit the letter "c". then go to one of the above three named programs and hold down ctrl and hit the letter "V".
The text should be pasted into atleast one of the programs. If so, then your clipboard is in fact working.

I am not sure why this problem occurs, but you arent alone. I also have this trouble when trying to copy and paste things from .pdf files sometimes, but, thru these other programs, I am able to get it done.
I think this may have something to do with text in here being part of java applets.

If the above doesnt work, you can always do a "prnt scrn" by holding down "Ctrl, then hitting "prnt scrn" up by F 12, then opening "wordpad" or Word and then holding down ctrl and hitting "V". However, this copies EVERYTHING on the screen...including headers and graphics.

I hope this helps,

Greg

Greg, the problem here is that it will not even allow me to highlight it in the clipboard ? I have never come across this before,it sort of defeats the object of having a clipboard,I think that I will adopt the very useful 'Print Screen' facility that you have mentioned and save the pages to a file, thank you for assisting me.

This is what the help section says-

ClipBook Viewer overviewWhen you cut or copy information from a program, it is moved to the Clipboard and remains there until you clear the Clipboard or until you cut or copy another piece of information. The Clipboard window in ClipBook Viewer shows the contents of the Clipboard. You can paste the information from the Clipboard into any file as often as you like. However, the information is only stored on the Clipboard temporarily.
Using ClipBook Viewer, you can cut or copy information from another program and store it in a page that you can name, save, use again, and share with others.
You can share ClipBook pages with others who have ClipBook Viewer installed on their computers, and they can share their ClipBook pages with you.
You can also save the contents of the Clipboard to an individual Clipboard file instead of a ClipBook page. These files generally have the extension .clp and cannot be shared with others.
The Clipboard can store text in different formats, such as the Text character set (used by most Windows-based programs), the OEM Text format (used by MS-DOS-based programs), and the Unicode character set (a superset of all of the major scripts used in the world). The View menu gives you the ability to see your data in various formats.
