| New Topic Well John has kindly put together a new topic for us in the form of Engineering and Tooling so I thought a good start would be to post some pictures of our own engineering projects.
I will attach a couple of pictures later of some engines so feel free to show your stuff!

| Howdy Guys, Well I think this will be a great "topic". And even though alot of my "engineering" is done "in a pinch" ....ie... making tooling when its needed, usually something like a specialized xacto knife blade etc.. However I cant help but wonder, would "tips and tricks" also fall under this heading? If so, I see alot of great ideas coming from this new topic from people here in the forum from all over the world. I look forward to see where this thread goes. Have a good day, Greg |

| Greg, I couldn't agree more, "Engineering and Tooling" covers everything from your craft knife and tweezers to the processes and procedures involved with modern machine tools. I hope that people see how engineering affects everything we do and especially how it relates to our modelling.
Everything from making specialist hand tools to tutorials on making model components on the lathe could prove very interesting.
I started the ball roling with a thread on a model engine I made a long number of years ago.

| | All Round Modeller | I agree with Greg, An excellent idea and certainly covers a side of Modelling that we have been missing here on the Forums.
I must admit, I have seen several of these type Models at the shows / exhibitions and cannot help but admire them for the work that has gone into them and of course the standard of the work too.
I can see some very nice ideas and tips coming from here too.
Regards......Mark.

| If you go to one of the model engineering exhibitions, such as Harrogate, you will be staggerred at the work involved in putting together some of the exhibits.
Home made liquid fuel engines, gas engines, hot air engines, steam engines, steam trains, traction engines and all sorts of weird and wonderfull devices all made at home with various standards of machine tools. I could just enjoy looking at them for hours.
There is even a huge Tiger 1 made entirely out of metal that is there every year and one of our own club members has made a landing craft entirely from brass.
There is certainly a wealth of subjects that can also be of interest to scale modelling of all types.

| | All Round Modeller | I can only agree with you there Richard,
I used to go to the Model Engineer Exhibition in London every year whilst I was working down there, (That was 8 years) different venues (Alexandra Palace, Wembley and of course Olympia). I used to love the display exhibits there too....I spent many hours admiring those models then. Sandown was a regular show for me too during that time as it wasn't too far away and good to pick up a few bargains too !!!
Regards......Mark.
