If you are talking about the change gear setup, they shouldn't be that tight.
It should be a matter of taking the nut off the spindle and sliding the gears off.

Unless you are talking about the plastic or nylon gears they use on smaller machines, then you are in the hands of the gods as they could have shrunk to almost any size. Depending on the material, they can grow or shrink depending on the humidity of the surrounding air.

I would suggest, if you can get a reamer the same size as the shaft, do a hand cut on the gear hole, and the slight wobble you give it by doing it by hand should give enough clearance for it to fit on the shaft nicely.

Hi John
It's a metal 20 tooth gear - the plastic 60 teeth came off no problem as you can get your fingers round and ease them off, I managed to get the 20 off using plastic wedges and a blunt wood chisel but it took a while. I will have a good look at it tommorrow i.e. try it without the key in, to see if it's the gear bore or the key that's binding
thanks for the advice Peter
