And there was me thinking you were doing "Red 10"
"Red 12" was another of the 10./NJG 11 nightfighters. W.Nr.111980. It was not built as a two seater but converted by Deutsche Lufthansa. It too was captured at Schleswig and transferred to Gilze-Rijen (in Holland) before being flown to the R.A.E Farnborough in early December 1945. It was last seen on display at the Blackpool air pageant in June 1947 and was scrapped shortly thereafter.
Our old mate Altner flew this one too!

"On 6th May I flew with my mechanic Karl Braun in our good old "Red 12" from the autobahn near Reinfeld to Schleswig-Jagel.........That was the end of the war for me and I had done my duty."

Schleswig is on the Danish border, they were moving away from the British advance on Hamburg.

I'm surprised noone is doing "Red 8". It is probably the most photographed and it still exists. It left Birkenhead on 23/2/47 on the SS Clan McCree and arrived at Cape Town on 17/3/47. As far as I know it is still on display at the South African National War Museum in Johannesburg.......Theuns?

      Cheers

I've built this kit - great little thing with practically no fit issues! Will look forward to seeing this.

Nice detail in such a small scale. What colour have you used for the cockpit interior?

      Cheers

Humbrol dark gray enamal, but the whole cockpit isn't painted yet so some of the pale grey of the plastic is still visible.

      Gonna finish it up tonight.

      It's also my eyes then
Dark grey (it was RLM 66) is the right colour.
